This mild-flavored smoothie is a safe choice to serve anyone at any time, and is a good choice for serving someone who’s never tried a green smoothie. This is a light meal for one person or a snack for two.

Serves 2.


3 cups chopped romaine lettuce (about 1 head)
2 cups chopped spinach leaves
½ cup sliced celery
1 cup water
½ cup diced apples
¼ cup diced pear
½ cup sliced banana
½ tablespoon fresh lemon juice


Thoroughly wash the applicable fruits and vegetables. Blend the lettuce, spinach, celery and water until smooth. Add everything else and blend until smooth.
